Coaches Review The Battle . . .

Texas Tech Head Coach Spike Dykes:

(On his players): "I am so proud of our guys. They just didn't give up. That's what it's all about, pulling together when everything is going against you."

(On the victory): "This is a great win for our program. Our kids really fought. They didn't get down after A&M went ahead."

(On Texas A&M): "I really have to hand it to A&M. They've had some tough breaks, but they played a heck of a game today. We were really fortunate to win.:

(On Byron Hanspard): "Byron did what he has done all year. He fought for everything he got. To get all those yards against that type of defense is really incredible. He just continues to amaze me."

(On the Tech defense): They have a big ole offensive line, but our defense, you have to give them credit. We really hung in there when things weren't going very well. We held tough."

Texas A&M Head Coach R.C. Slocum:

(On the season): "This is a difficult time. It's been a long, long timesince I've been in this situation. It's not an easy situation to be in. We must continue to concentrate. Anytime you get like this, there is a tendency among players to drift. When you start off you have all those things you're working for but little by little you lose them along the way. When you get down to the end you have to pay close attention and go back as a coach and say we have another game."
