"The support from the Tech community has been great and the telephone lines in our ticket office have been ringing non-stop.
"I feel confident that our fans will support this game and our team and I reiterate my challenge to our fans to come to San Antonio in full force. We want to show the nation what Lubbock and West Texas already knows: That the fans at Texas Tech are the most supportive and loyal around."

Texas Tech Offers Discount Bowl Ticket Prices
Myers challenges fans to support Red Raiders in San Antonio
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech interim athletic director Gerald Myers is issuing a challenge to Texas Tech football fans, while offering a discounted game ticket to the Builders Square Alamo Bowl game in San Antonio.
Texas Tech's allotment of 2,185 upper level sideline tickets to the game are being offered through the Athletic Ticket Office for $20. The face value of the tickets is $35.50. Texas Tech is also selling its allotment of club level tickets for $60.50 and lower level tickets for $40.50. Phone orders are being accepted today and tomorrow by calling 806/742-4412 or toll-free 1-888-Go-Big 12. Over-the-counter sales begin Wednesday morning.
"We have experienced some of the greatest support for Texas Tech athletics than we have in the history of the University," said Myers. "We need to keep that support at its peak in San Antonio at the Builders Square Alamo Bowl. With that in mind, I am issuing a challenge to Tech fans throughout Texas and New Mexico to come to the Alamodome in full force on December 29 when we play Iowa in the Builders Square Alamo Bowl.
"Our fans have been great this season. We had three-straight sellouts, which surpassed anything we had projected prior to the season. Now, we have an opportunity to show how much of an impact our fans have to the people outside of Lubbock.
"It is important for fans to pledge their support for Tech at this game for three very solid reasons: 1) To show future bowl scouts that Texas Tech fans support its team. This plays a very important role in the bowl selection process. 2) To help increase the great exposure for Texas Tech. The Alamo Bowl is one of the top tier bowls in the nation and the eyes of the football world will be on San Antonio on December 29. And, 3) To show recruits exactly what kind of support to expect when they attend Texas Tech. We believe we have some of the most loyal fans in the nation. We are right on the edge of being on the next level and fan support is a big part of taking the next step toward a national championship.
"Finally, I think our support at the Builders Square Alamo Bowl is more important that the great support we received at the 1995 Cotton Bowl game. The excitement of the first year of the Big 12; the fact that we are one of five teams from the conference in a bowl game; and, the success of all of our teams is dependent on our fan support. We have proven that we have support in Lubbock. Now it is time to show the rest of the nation.
