Texas Tech Tops Kansas

LUBBOCK, Texas - Ricky Williams and Rob Peters scored on short touchdown runs and Texas Tech held Kansas to 11 net yards rushing in posting a 17-7 victory in a Big 12 Conference game.

Williams, who rushed for 179 yards on 33 carries, capped an 11-play, 83-yard drive to open the game with a two-yard run to give Texas Tech a 7-0 lead with 12:19 left in the first quarter.

Kansas got within 10-7 on Jamie Harris' 64-yard interception return midway through the fourth quarter, but Peters scored on a one-yard run with 1:17 to go.

Jaret Greaser added a 37-yard field goal for the Red Raiders (3-2, 2-0 Big 12), who have won consecutive games but head to Nebraska next week.

The Jayhawks (3-2, 2-1) were outgained, 365-140, and managed just nine first downs.
