Jim Nichols begins his third season at Texas Tech serving a key administrative role for the Red Raider football program.
Prior to coming to Texas Tech, Nichols, served as a defensive quality control coach at Troy University. He was a part of the team that won the Sun Belt Conference and went to the GMAC Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
Nichols coaching experience includes being the first head football coach at NAIA Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala. from 2006-2009. He built the program for three years before his stint at Troy.
Nichols worked under Tommy Tuberville at Auburn in a football adminstrative position from 2003-2006.
Before Auburn he worked under Bill Naper at Murray County High School in Georgia as an assistant football coach.
He received his bachelor of arts from Harding University in Searcy, Ark., and worked in business for four years before moving into football. Nichols is from Searcy, Ark.
Nichols and his wife Haley have three kids Gracie, Peyton and Presley.
