Kevin Oliver enters his sixth season with the Texas Tech football program in 2014 and his first in the position of high school relations/quality control.
Oliver spent two years (2012-13) as a graduate assistant helping with special team efforts. During his second season in the position - his first on head coach Kliff Kingsbury's staff - kicker Ryan Bustin set several school records, including field goals made (23), field goal percentage (85.2) and field goals attempted (27), to name a few, while being named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, a national award that is annually given to the top kicker in the country.
He spent the 2011 season as a student assistant working with offensive line coach Matt Moore. The Red Raiders passing offense ranked seventh in the nation during his one season working with the offensive line.
Oliver was a student assistant working with the running backs under assistant coach Chad Scott during the 2010 season. In 2009, Oliver was a student assistant with the Red Raiders on Mike Leach's staff.
Oliver graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Communications in 2011 from Texas Tech. He will graduate with his master's degree from Tech in December 2014.
Oliver's younger brother, Bryson, is currently a graduate assistant coach at TCU working with the Horned Frogs offensive line. He spent four seasons on the Red Raiders coaching staff - two years alongside Kevin - from 2007-10 as a student-assistant coach.
Oliver is from Sweetwater, Texas, and graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1999.
