• Sophomore running back Kenny Williams scored Tech's first points of the game on a seven-yard touchdown run and that tied the score at 7-7. The touch¬down was his second of the season and the fourth of his career.
• Sophomore placekicker Ryan Bustin gave Texas Tech a 10-7 lead with 14:22 remaining in the first half when he connected on a 35-yard field goal. The field goal was his seventh of the year (7-for-9) and he is now 5-of-6 from 30-35 yards out. He added his second field goal of the game with 6:58 remaining in the first half to pull Tech to within one at 14-13. Bustin's field goal covered 43 yards and made him 1-2 on the season from 40-45 yards out.

• With Kenny Williams' seven-yard touchdown in the first quarter extended Texas Tech's school record consecutive game scoring streak to 186 games.
• Texas Tech scored on its first possession of the game for just the second time this season (Tech scored on first two possessions against New Mexico).
• Texas Tech has had at least 10 receivers catch at least one pass in all five games of the season.
