Senior Donnie Carona kicked a 29-yard field goal on Tech's opening drive to give the Red Raid¬ers a 3-0 lead. The kick made him a perfect 3-for-3 from 20-29 yards out this season. He added a second field goal with 10:10 remaining in the first half when he connected on a 40-yard attempt - which was his sixth successful kick from 40-49 yards out.
With his two PATs, Donnie Carona now has 74 PATs, which ties him for 10th all-time on Texas Tech's career top-10 list.
Sophomore defensive end Dartwan Bush picked up his second sack of the season on Texas' first offensive possession of the game which held the Longhorns to a 48-yard field goal.
Adam James 49-yard reception on Tech's third offensive drive of the game marked a career long and was Texas Tech's fourth longest play of the season.
Sophomore Eric Ward scored Texas Tech's first touchdown of the game with 3:10 remaining in the third quarter. Ward caught an 8-yard pass from Seth Doege.
