• Today's game was televised nationally on FX. It marked Tech's second appearance of the season on FX and the eighth televised game of the year.
• Today's game marked the 60th all-time meeting between Texas Tech and Texas.
• Tonight's game marked the 958th all-time game in Texas Tech history. With today's loss Texas Tech falls to 524-402-32 all-time.
• Texas won the coin toss and elected to defer. Texas Tech is now 2-7 on the opening coin toss this season.
• Texas Tech wore white jerseys, black pants and black helmets in tonight's game. Texas Tech has worn this uniform combination in all three Big 12 road games.

• Gives Texas Tech a 5-4 record on the season.
• Gives Texas Tech a 2-4 record in Big 12 Conference play.
• Gives Texas a 45-15 lead in the all-time series.

NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
• Senior Donnie Carona kicked a 29-yard field goal on Tech's opening drive to give the Red Raid¬ers a 3-0 lead. The kick made him a perfect 3-for-3 from 20-29 yards out this season. He added a second field goal with 10:10 remaining in the first half when he connected on a 40-yard attempt - which was his sixth successful kick from 40-49 yards out.
• With his two PATs, Donnie Carona now has 74 PATs, which ties him for 10th all-time on Texas Tech's career top-10 list.
• Sophomore defensive end Dartwan Bush picked up his second sack of the season on Texas' first offensive possession of the game which held the Longhorns to a 48-yard field goal.
Adam James 49-yard reception on Tech's third offensive drive of the game marked a career long and was Texas Tech's fourth longest play of the season.
• Sophomore Eric Ward scored Texas Tech's first touchdown of the game with 3:10 remaining in the third quarter. Ward caught an 8-yard pass from Seth Doege.

TEAM NOTES
• Texas Tech scored on its opening drive (a 29-yard FG by Donnie Carona) to take a 3-0 lead. The last time Tech scored on its opening possession was at Oklahoma.
• Texas Tech's opening possession took 7:04 seconds off the clock and marked Tech's longest drive of the season (by time).
• Texas Tech's score on its opening drive snapped a streak of eight consecutive drives that had come up empty for the Red Raiders. Tech failed to score on its last two drives of the first half against Iowa State and in the entire second half against the Cyclones.
• Texas Tech was held to 21 or less points for the second-consecutive week, marking the first time the Red Raiders had done so since falling to Missouri (38-21) and Colorado (30-6) in 2006.
