Redshirt freshman Jakeem Grant returned a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown late in the third quarter to give Texas Tech a 31-21 lead. That marked the first kickoff return for a touchdown by a Red Raider since Vincent Meeks (98 yard return) in 2002 at No. 4 Oklahoma.

• Sophomore Delvon Simmons picked up his second sack of the season on Baylor's first possession of the game (3rd and 5 on the Tech 25 yard line). Baylor then missed a 42-yard field goal (wide right).
• Senior quarterback Seth Doege picked up his first rushing touchdown of the season on Tech's first drive of the game. Doege's touchdown run covered 19 yards and gave Tech an early 7-0 lead. It marked Doege's fifth career rushing touchdown.
Kenny Williams gave Texas Tech a 14-0 lead late in the first quarter when he scored on a five-yard rush. The rushing TD was his fifth of fifth of the season.
• Senior receiver Eric Ward gave Texas Tech a 21-7 lead with 14:17 remaining in the second quarter on a 23-yard touchdown reception. The touchdown was his 11th of the season. Ward has now caught 11 touchdowns in back-to-back seasons.
Ryan Bustin's 29-yard field goal on the first drive of the second half gave Texas Tech a 24-14 lead. The field goal made Bustin 15-of-21 on the season and 4-for-5 from 20-29 yards out.
• Senior wide receiver Darrin Moore caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Seth Doege to give Tech a 38-35 lead with 12:24 left to play in the game.
• Junior wide receiver Eric Ward finished with over 100 yards receiving for the fifth time this season and for the seventh time during his career.
• Today's game marks the second time this season Moore and Ward have each gone over 100 yards receiving in the same game (Texas).
• Moore caught his second touchdown of the game (6-yards) from Doege with 6:19 left to play to give Tech the lead, 45-42.

• Texas Tech extended its school record consecutive game scoring streak to 193 games with a touchdown on its first possession of the game (19-yard run by Seth Doege).
• Texas Tech now has at least one rushing touchdown in eight consecutive games.
