Texas Tech Pro Day Recap|
March 14, 2014
Scouts from all 32 NFL teams, including New York Jets General Manager John Idzik, were on campus this morning for Texas Tech's annual pro day.
With potential first-rounder Jace Amaro providing the marquee billing, a total of 13 Red Raider seniors got their chance to impress the scouts with the hope of turning football into a professional career.
The pro day turned out to be productive for Amaro as he improved upon his 40-yard dash time and his vertical from the NFL Combine. Amaro posted a 4.68 in the 40-yard dash (up from 4.74) and improved a half-inch on his vertical at 33.5 inches (up from 33).
"I felt like I had a much better day here at pro day," said Amaro. "I felt a lot more comfortable here in Lubbock. I did really well in the pass-catch, the 40 and everything. I'm really happy with the way everything happened today."
Kerry Hyder also used today's pro day to improve in a couple of categories from his appearance at the NFL Combine. Hyder improved his vertical leap by a half-inch to 30 inches and dropped his 40-yard dash time down from 5.10 to 5.00.
Bruce Jones ran the best 40-yard dash of the day as he clocked in at 4.50. He also registered the best vertical leap at 41 inches.
Terrance Bullitt also improved his draft stock by posting a 40-inch vertical and a 4.68 40-yard dash.
The 2014 NFL Draft is scheduled for May 8-10 at Radio City Music Hall in New York, NY. Live coverage begins at 7 p.m. on the NFL Network and ESPN.
