Second Annual Spike's Open Golf Tournament
Football to host annual event.

Who: Texas Tech football coach Spike Dykes will host a one-day golf tournament. Other members of the athletic staff also will be involved.
What: The format for the 2nd Annual Spike's Open will be a two-person scramble. The tournament will include individual prizes for holes-in-one, closest to the pin and long drive, among others. The field is limited to the first 576 golfers (288 teams).
Where: Meadowbrook Golf Complex. There will be 7:30 am and 1:30 pm shotgun starts on both the Canyon and Creek courses. sign up at Meadowbrook Golf complex or call the pro shop at 806/765-6679. Entry fee checks must be made out to the "Texas Tech Foundation."
When: Saturday, June 27, 1998
Why: Thanks to everybody who played in last year's event and our apologies to those who missed out on all the fun. The idea is to give all Red Raider fans an supporters an opportunity to share a day with members of the Texas Tech coaching staff. Plus, we might be able to raise a little money for the Texas Tech general scholarship fund and the Stoney Garland fund.
How: The entry fee is $50 per person ($100 per team). Your entry fee covers the green fee, cart rental, practice balls, lunch, beverages, two Tech football tickets and all the fun you can have. Trophies will be awarded to the first three teams in each flight. Drawing for prizes will be held at the conclusion of the afternoon round.
Sponsorships: Hole sponsorships are available for $350 and $250. The $350 receives a personalized sign, a complimentary two-person team and recognition for sponsoring a celebrity team. The $250 sponsor receives a personalized sign and a complimentary two-person team. Sponsorship checks need to be made out to the "Stoney Garland Fund."
