LUBBOCK, Texas - ABC Sports announced today that it has added Texas Tech's Sept. 14 home game with Mississippi to its broadcast package. The Red Raiders also will open the season on ABC at Ohio State in the Pigskin Classic Aug. 24.

The game will be carried as part of the network's regional package and will be available in Texas and much of the southeast United States. Each school will receive a payout of $400,000 or more for their appearances.

The game will feature two of the nation's premier quarterbacks in Tech's Kliff Kingsbury and Ole Miss' Eli Manning. Both are Heisman Trophy candidates entering the 2002 season and ranked statistically among the nation's best in 2001.

The Mississippi game is the third of five non-conference games picked up by television. In addition to the Ohio State and Mississippi games, the Red Raiders will face New Mexico on ESPN Fri., Sept. 27.
