LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior Kenny Williams is one of 47 players that have been named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List, the Louisville Sports Commission announced Monday.

The Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse is a national honor given annually to the most versatile player in major college football.

Williams, a running back for three seasons with the Red Raiders and now making the move to linebacker for the 2014 season, is the second Red Raider to make the award's watch list - now in its fifth season - joining running back/kick returner Eric Stephens Jr. in 2011.

Williams is one of five players from the Big 12 Conference that made the watch list, joining TCU's B.J. Catalon, Kansas State's Tyler Lockett, Baylor's Levi Norwood and Iowa State's Aaron Wimberly.

Williams has played in 36 career games as a Red Raider (23 starts - second most among active offensive players) with 311 rushes, 1,456 yards (4.7 avg.) with 15 rushing touchdowns. He has also made 52 career receptions with 479 receiving yards and has two receiving touchdowns.

Williams' junior season totals of 125 rushes, 497 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns led the team. He rushed for 824 yards as a sophomore in 2012, marking the most rushing yards by a Tech underclassmen (freshman or sophomore) since 2006 (Shannon Woods).
