Football Season Ticket Sales Reach Record Mark
July 21, 2010
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech faithful are investing in the Red Raider football program at a historic rate as the demand for season tickets has reached record numbers for the second time in the last three years.
With 30,709 season tickets sold as of Tuesday night, that number will surpass the previous season ticket record of 30,092 that were purchased prior to the start of the 2008 season. The 30,709 season tickets do not include the Texas Tech student body which accounts for another 12,548 additional season tickets and will bring the overall total to 43,257. The official seating capacity for Jones AT&T Stadium will rise to 60,454 in 2010 with the addition of the east side stadium building.
"We couldn't be happier with the enthusiasm that our fans have for this football program," said Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville. "If you haven't purchased your season tickets yet, it's not too late. They still have plenty of seats. We want to make sure that Jones AT&T Stadium is full every time we step out on the field."
Despite the record numbers of season ticket sales, there are still great seats available to purchase and fans can do so online at www.texastech.com or by calling the athletics ticket office at (806) 742-4412 or (888) GO-BIG12. Fans interested in club seats or one of the few remaining suites in the new east side building should contact the Red Raider Club at (806) 742-1195.
