The Red Raider faithful got their first glimpse of the 2014 Texas Tech football team on Thursday at the annual Red Raider Club Kickoff Luncheon held downtown at the Lubbock Civic Center.
Texas Tech fans heard from head coach Kliff Kingsbury, offensive coordinator Eric Morris and defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt during the hour-long ceremony which also featured the Goin' Band from Raiderland along with the Tech spirit squads.
The Kickoff Luncheon serves as the annual celebration to the upcoming season as roughly 1,750 fans packed the banquet hall for today's event.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20 - PRACTICE NO. 20
The Red Raiders wrapped practice No. 19 of training camp this morning, a two-hour workout at the Football Training Facility practice fields. Texas Tech will return to the fields later this evening to conclude its final two-a-day of training camp with practice schedule to begin roughly at 6:30 p.m.
Tech has only 10 days remaining until opening the 2014 season on Aug. 30 against Central Arkansas. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at Jones AT&T Stadium.

The Texas Tech TV caught up with Kennon Ward following Monday's morning practice as Courtney Davis put the sophomore safety through "Red Raider Most Likely."
MONDAY, AUGUST 18 - PRACTICE NO. 16
The Red Raiders completed practice No. 16 of training camp this morning and will return to the practice fields later this evening to complete the third two-a-day workout this fall.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury and defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt both spoke to the media following practice which include comments on this past Saturday's scrimmage, the second one of the fall.
Tech will close preseason practice later this week before turning to game-week preparations on Sunday. The Red Raiders open the 2014 season on Aug. 30 with a 6 p.m. kickoff against Central Arkansas at Jones AT&T Stadium.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 17 - DARRIN CHIAVERINI MIC'D UP
Texas Tech TV took another look inside Red Raider training camp today as new special teams coach Darrin Chiaverini was mic'd up for a recent practice as well as in the meeting room.
Chiaverini arrived at Texas Tech this past spring after spending the past four seasons at Riverside City College. The former Colorado standout is the first full-time Texas Tech special teams coach since the 2009 season.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 15 - ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury came close to breaking the Internet on Friday afternoon with the latest video from inside the Red Raider Football program.
Throughout the past few weeks, Kingsbury had been challenged multiple times to the popular ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The second-year head coach responded immediately following practice No. 14 of the fall, gathering the team as well as Raider Red, the Masked Rider and the Tech Spirit Squads.
Kingsbury called out former Red Raiders and current Denver Broncos Wes Welker, Manny Ramirez and Louis Vasquez as well as Texas native and Grammy award winner Beyonce.
What happened next was anything but normal as Raider Red tossed ice water on Kingsbury while the rest of the Red Raiders and coaching staff unloaded buckets of water on each other. Lubbock Fire Department's station No. 4 was also on hand, drenching the team from overhead with water.
Since the video debuted, Kingsbury's Twitter account (@TTUKingsbury) has received over 1,000 retweets, making it easily one of the most popular videos to hit social media this fall.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 15 - HOLLY ROWE VISITS RED RAIDER FOOTBALL
Texas Tech had a special visitor on campus Friday in ESPN reporter Holly Rowe. Arguably one of the top college football reporters in the country, Rowe spent the afternoon meeting with the Red Raiders, speaking about proper ways to speak with members of the media while also touching on social media as well.
Each season hundreds of college football reporters meet with the Red Raiders during the week and then again following each game. The amount of coverage on Red Raider Football is at an all-time high from the national, state and local levels.
Rowe provided the Red Raiders with things to do and things to avoid during her hour-long presentation to the team. She also presented the team examples of where social media has hurt student-athletes and gave ways for each of them to "build their brand."
Texas Tech fans can see Rowe throughout the 2014 college football season as she will be once again roaming the sidelines for ESPN.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 14 - PRACTICE NO. 12
The Red Raiders wrapped practice No. 12 earlier this morning in what was the first of two practices on the day. Texas Tech was back in full pads this morning but will go through a helmets only workout later on this evening.
Defensive line coach John Scott Jr. spoke to Texas Tech TV's Courtney Davis following this morning practice, highlighting the Red Raiders efforts on the defensive front while also addressing what he is looking forward to seeing in Saturday's scrimmage.
The scrimmage will be Tech's final one prior to kicking off the 2014 season Aug. 30 against Central Arkansas at Jones AT&T Stadium. Individual game tickets for the season opener and several other contests are still available by contacting the Tech Ticket Office at 806-742-TECH.

Offensive line coach Lee Hays returns several key linemen from a year ago, namely Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award watch list candidate Le'Raven Clark, while also bringing in several new faces such as Dominique Robertson.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 12 - PRACTICE NO. 9
The Red Raiders concluded practice No. 9 this morning, a two-hour workout at the Football Training Facility practice fields. Texas Tech will return to the field later this evening to complete its first of two different two-a-day workouts scheduled for this week.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury and defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt both spoke to the media following practice, giving a rundown on how the Red Raiders looked following the first scrimmage of the fall this past Saturday.
Tech is scheduled go through its second scrimmage of the fall this Saturday. That scrimmage will be closed to the media and public.

The Red Raiders completed practice No. 6 on Saturday morning. It was the final workout for Texas Tech before the Red Raiders go through their first scrimmage of the fall Sunday afternoon.
Texas Tech went through its sixth practice of the fall Saturday morning, its final workout prior to the first intersquad scrimmage set for Sunday afternoon. The scrimmage is closed to both the public and the media.
The Red Raiders got a special treat following practice as it was the annual watermelon day. The event was coordinated through the the Texas Tech Sports Nutrition and equipment staff.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 8 - RELENTLESSLY DRIVEN
As the Red Raiders prepare for practice No. 5 of the fall later this evening, Texas Tech TV takes out look at the relentless pursuit to be the best from the offseason.
The Red Raiders went through a light workout Thursday night that featured special teams work and team drills with most of the Tech newcomers. Tech will go through a Saturday morning practice before its first scrimmage of the season set for Sunday afternoon.

The Red Raiders were finally able to strap on the shoulder pads Wednesday evening in the third practice of training camp. Tech previously went through two days of helmet only workouts due to NCAA practice regulations.
With several new faces along the offensive and defensive lines, it was a practice several members of the Tech coaching staff, and most of the Red Raiders, had likely been waiting for since the team arrived on campus earlier this summer.
Both offensive line coach Lee Hays and defensive line coach John Scott Jr. said earlier in the week they would know more about many of their newcomers once they put the pads on this evening.
They will continue to learn more about their newcomers throughout the rest of the week as the Red Raiders will remain in shoulder pads and helmet on Thursday and Friday before donning full pads for the first time this fall on Saturday.
Sunday's workout is expected to be the first of several scrimmages held throughout training camp. All practices and scrimmages are closed to the public but Texas Tech TV will have coverage each day leading up to the Aug. 30 season opener against Central Arkansas.
Tech fans without season tickets can still see the Red Raiders at home this season as individual game tickets are still on sale for the Central Arkansas, Arkansas, West Virginia, Kansas and Oklahoma games through the Tech ticket office. The Texas game was deemed a sellout earlier this morning, marking the earliest announced sellout in school history.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6 - MEDIA INTERVIEWS
Before returning to the field for practice No. 3 tonight, the Red Raiders and members of the coaching staff met with the media this afternoon at the Football Training Facility.
Sophomore running back Quinton White, sophomore quarterback Davis Webb and defensive line coach John Scott Jr. were among the players and coaches to meet with the media on Wednesday.
The Red Raiders will put on shoulder pads for the first time this fall later this evening when practice begins around 6:15 p.m. Texas Tech TV will have a full practice report later tonight.

Texas Tech's first practice of training camp began at 6:15 p.m. and lasted a full two hours. The Red Raiders will practice in the evening each day this week due to the the final exam schedule for the Summer II session.
The team worked out in helmets only today and will do so again on Tuesday. The NCAA mandates that teams start with helmets only the first two days of training camp. Tech will move to shells on Wednesday and full pads on Saturday in what is expected to be the first scrimmage of training camp.
Texas Tech completed its 105-man roster earlier today with the addition of junior college signee Sam Atoe. Atoe signed with the Red Raiders on Friday and was given clearance to participate today, bringing Tech's roster to the limit of 105 student-athletes.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 3 - RED RAIDERS REPORT FOR TRAINING CAMP

A total of 104 Red Raiders reported to training camp on Sunday afternoon at the football training facility. Tech's 105-man roster for training camp is expected to be completed on Monday with the addition of safety Sam Atoe. Atoe signed with the Red Raiders on Friday night and will join the team from the College of San Mateo where he was teammates with Rika Levi.
The team gathered in the Spike Dykes Team Meeting room at 4:30 pm for mandatory meetings that included presentations from compliance, academics, communications, traffic and parking and tickets.
Texas Tech will hold its first practice of training camp at 6:15 pm on Monday at the Football Training Facility.

Texas Tech hosted its annual Local Media Day on Sunday afternoon to officially kick off the 2014 season. Over 70 members of the local and regional media attended the event that was held in the East Stadium Building of Jones AT&T Stadium.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury opened the event by meeting with the local press as a group before rotating from room-to-room for a series of one-on-one interviews with various media organizations. He was joined by three members of his coaching staff, defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt, offensive coordinator Eric Morris and new special teams coordinator Darrin Chiaverini.
The Red Raiders were represented by members of both sides of the ball, including quarterback Davis Webb, wide receivers Bradley Marquez and Jakeem Grant as well as linebacker Pete Robertson and defensive backs Justis Nelson and J.J. Gaines.
Webb and defensive lineman Branden Jackson gave Red Raider fans a chance to interact and get to know both student-athletes better midway through the afternoon as they took over the @TechAthletics Twitter account.
Jackson received multiple questions about the improved Tech defense as well as several newcomers to the program. Webb, meanwhile, was asked a wide-range of questions from his all-time favorite Texas Tech quarterback (Coach Kingsbury) to the type of hair product he uses.
Local Media Day was the first event in a full schedule for the Red Raiders, who will also host several team meetings later tonight with various members of the athletics department.
TexasTech.TV will have behind-the-scenes footage from Local Media Days later tonight. Coverage includes a role reversal of sorts as Marquez closed the day interviewing several members of the media.
