A historic win over No. 3/1 Oklahoma that snapped the Sooners 39-game home win streak, has propelled Texas Tech into the Top 25 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches Top 25 polls that were released late Sunday morning.
Texas Tech's 41-38 win over the Sooners marked the program's first win over a No. 1 ranked team on the road and just the second win over a top-ranked team in school history.
The Associated Press placed the Red Raiders at No. 19 in this week's rankings which is the highest for Tech in that poll since finishing the 2008 season at No. 12. Texas Tech stands at No. 22 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and that also marks the highest ranking for Tech in that poll since finishing 12th in 2008.
Texas Tech is in the national Top 25 for the first time since ending the 2009 season with a 41-31 victory over Michigan State in the Alamo Bowl. Tech finished the 2009 campaign ranked No. 21 in the AP and No. 23 in the coaches poll.
