Senior Running Back Ricky Williams

On if early competitors are still in the Heisman race ...
"I think most of the competitors are still in the race. There is still a lot of competition left."

On chances of anybody catching him in the Heisman race ...
"My next four opponents are extremely tough against the run, and it is going to be really hard for me to turn in performances like I have done over the past couple of weeks."

On whether being the all-time points leader and chasing the rushing title is a distraction ...
"No, it does not bother me. We still have some tough games coming up and are trying to win our division. It is really coming down to the wire, and hopefully I can have clutch performances like I did against Baylor to help the team win."

On the challenges he will face against Nebraska ...
"They have a lot of team speed on defense. It is going to make it hard for me to get around the corner or have any big runs because they are so fast. They are so big and physical, that it is going to be hard for me to run inside as well. I think it is going to be up to our offensive line to get a push up the middle on their defensive line and open up some running lanes for me."

On his decision to stay in college ...
"I knew once I made the decision, regardless of what happened, I was going to be happy because I was going to make myself enjoy school. Everything is going exactly the way I planned it, and I am extremely happy at this point in time."

On preparing for Nebraska as compared to other teams on the schedule ...
"We will prepare the same as we do for all of our other games. We will go in thinking that this is better than any defense we have played this year."

On being an instinctive runner ...
"Since I played Pop-Warner football, I have always been good at following my blocks. I realize that those guys are on my team and that they can help me out a lot."

On talking with teammate Adam Dunn about playing professional baseball and college football ...
"We have talked about it a lot actually. He asks me questions about playing both, and I tell him what it is like. He went higher than me in the draft ,which probably makes him a better baseball player, but we still have a lot to talk about."

On how much harder it is to play both sports and be a quarterback as compared to being a running back ...
"Well, being a running back, you can miss spring practice since a lot is not going to change for you. He is a freshman quarterback with a lot of talent who wants to play someday, so he can't miss spring practice because there is so much for him to learn."

On what he was thinking about as he limped off during the Baylor game ...
"When it happened, I thought I had broken my leg because it hurt so bad. The guy didn't have to do that, but he can without getting a penalty. I don't think it was a dirty play."

On this game having more weight than the others for the Heisman race ...
"I think it does since it is what football is all about, playing in these big games."

On if he came back to play in big games like the one on Saturday ...
"I felt last year that we did not have any games like this that we actually had a chance to win. That's one of the main reasons I came back."

On whether he thinks he has already won the Heisman ...
"I really don't think I can say. I just know that I have to go out and keep playing hard. Then, if I have a good year and the voters think that I am the best player in the country, then I will take the trophy."

On having any say over how much press he gets from the Texas Sports Information Department ...
"I think our sports information department did a lot of stuff during the off-season to make sure that my name was out there. Now they feel that they did such a good job during the off-season that they do not have to do much else right now."

On if there are similarities between the Kansas State and Nebraska defenses ...
"Not really. Nebraska believes that they can play seven men in the box and stop the run because of the number of athletes they have, while Kansas State goes with an eight-man front. They both have a lot of team speed and great athletes on defense."

On what the Heisman would mean to him ...
"One of the reasons I came to Texas was to come to a school where I could win the Heisman. Growing up, it was a goal of mine. It would be a dream come true for me."

On how the team's success this year has helped his chances for the Heisman ...
"If the team were not playing as well right now, I would not even be mentioned for the Heisman. The trend of late is that the Heisman goes to a player on a winning team."
