LUBBOCK, Texas - With only one game under his belt, Texas Tech rookie placekicker Matt Williams was named the AT&T All-America Player of the Week in a fan vote for his performance in Texas Tech's 63-21 win at Kansas last weekend. Williams was 9-of-9 on PATs during the game.

Williams was added to the team as a walk-on the week following the Massachusetts game in which he came out of the stands to kick a 30-yard field goal during a game promotion. He won free rent for a year, but turned the prize down. Texas Tech Head Coach Mike Leach witnessed the kick and invited Williams to join the team shortly afterward.

The Weatherford, Texas, native joins Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell and wide receiver Michael Crabtree as Red Raiders who have won the weekly honor this year. Harrell has two wins to his credit this season.

The No. 5 Red Raiders host No. 1 Texas on Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium at 7 p.m. ABC will air the game nationally.
