LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior split end Donnie Hart has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the 1998 Biletnikoff Award, the Tallahassee (Fla.) Quarterback Club Foundation announced today.
Hart, a 6-1, 197-pound senior from Wolfforth, Texas, is the only Big 12 Conference receiver to earn semifinalists honors. He currently ranks second on the Texas Tech career receiving yards list with 2,030 and is second on the career list for receiving TDs with 18. His 690 receiving yards this season ranks as the eighth-best single-season performance at Texas Tech, while his seven receiving TDs is tied for third on the single season list.
"I am tickled to death for Donnie," said head coach Spike Dykes. "The things he can do on the field continues to amaze me. He is a great receiver who can really be a game-breaker for us. He is having a good year for us and is an integral part of our overall offensive game plan."
The Biletnikoff Award is in its fifth year of annually recognizing the nation's top receiver. Sponsored by the Tallahassee (Fla.) Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., the award will be announced on Dec. 10 as part of the ESPN College Football Awards show live from Orlando, Fla.
