Texas Tech seniors Cody Davis and Austin Zouzalik were one of 10 football student-athletes from the Big 12 to become three-time first team honorees as the conference announced the 2012 Academic All-Big 12 Football Team earlier today.

Davis, a senior from Stephenville, was one of just three student-athletes to be honored with a perfect 4.0 GPA and is a candidate for the newly created Student-Athlete Of The Year that will be unveiled with All-Big 12 selections in December. Davis joined teammate Austin Zouzalik on the first team for the third consecutive year.

In all, Texas Tech placed 10 student-athletes on the first team and two on the second team. Texas Tech's first team selections included Davis, Zouzalik, Seth Doege, Ryan Erxleben, Kramer Fyfe, Summit Hogue, Bradley Marquez, Terry McDaniel, Eugene Neboh, Alex Torres, Austin Zouzalik. Second team selections included Michael Brewer and Le'Raven Clark.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
