Texas Tech's Montae Reagor Earns AP First Team All America Honors

LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior defensive end Montae Reagor earned his fifth All America First Team Award as the Associated Press selected him a First Team All America, the AP announced Tuesday. Sophomore Texas Tech running back Ricky Williams was named to the AP All America Third Team.
Reagor garnered his sixth All America honor of the season. He was named First Team All America by The Sporting News, Football Writers Assocation of America, American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp and now the Associated Press along with Second Team All America by Football News. He was also a unanimous All Big 12 First Team selection, Lombardi Award semifinalist and Football News Defensive Player of the Year Finalist after setting school records for career tackles for loss (47) and sacks (24.5). The Waxahachie, Texas native also set a single season school record for tackles for loss with 19 (51 yards) and finished with seven sacks on the season.
Williams, only a sophomore amassed 1582 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 306 carries. Williams finished the 1998 season with 2,476 career rushing yards on 507 attempts and 16 touchdowns. It was Williams' second All America honor on the season as the Duncanville, Texas native was also named to the Football News All America Second Team and was a Doak Walker Award semifinalist.
