HOUSTON, Texas - Texas Tech defensive tackle Tomi Finau took individual honors and led the Red Raiders to victory against East Carolina in the pie-eating contest at the Kemah Boardwalk Friday evening.

Finau, flanked by offensive lineman Cody Campbell and wide receiver Trey Haverty, took his pie through a disappearing act in less than two minutes.

The trip to Kemah capped day three of Texas Tech's preparations for the inaugural galleryfurniture.com Bowl. Kick-off for the game is set to 7 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 27. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

The Red Raiders began workouts at 10 a.m. on the grass practice field at Rice University. The workout resembled a typical Wednesday workout with the team opening practice with special teams drills, before moving into skill position workouts. Tech wrapped up practice with the first team offense and defense working against the scout team.

Texas Tech continues bowl preparations Sat., Dec. 23, with a 1½-hour practice beginning at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday's practice will take place at Rice University. The team will wrap up on-field workouts with a practice at the Reliant Astrodome on Christmas day.
