Restrepo Leads Texas Tech on Day One in Hawaii

KONA, Hawaii -- Texas Tech junior Esteban Restrepo fired a 5-under 67 as the No. 42 Red Raiders ended the first round in seventh place in the Amer Ari Invitational at Waikoloa Kings' Course.
The Red Raiders finished at 10-under (278) and trail leader and No. 3 Oklahoma State by seven strokes (271), followed by TCU (272), No. 24 USC (273), No. 16 Texas (274), No. 27 Auburn (274) and Oregon (276).
Tech is three shots ahead of No. 11 Stanford and eight strokes better than No. 2 Georgia Tech.
Restrepo, who started on No. 13, birdied six of his first 11 holes including back-to-back birdies on Nos. 1 and 2, and on Nos. 4 and 5. He would bogey just one hole coming in and had 11 pars.
Juniors Matias Dominguez and Henry Todd, who were on last year's NCAA Championship team with Restrepo, each fired a 3-under 69 while fellow championship teammate Clement Sordet and junior Tyson Turnbow followed with a 75 and 73, respectively.
