LUBBOCK, Texas - For the second straight year, Texas Tech leaves San Antonio with a team championship. The No. 11 Red Raiders successfully defended its title Tuesday at the UTSA Invitational, edging out runner-up Southeastern Louisiana by two strokes.

Tech entered the final round in a first-place tie with SLU and both teams battled to the wire, before the Red Raiders eventually escaped with the win. Tech played steady down the stretch as SLU carded three bogeys on the final hole. The two-stroke win was the first team victory of the season for Tech and the first since last season's Ron Smith/USF Invitational in Tampa in March.

Nils Floren carded a 71 and finished tied in fourth place to lead the Red Raiders in San Antonio, while Tyler Weworski capped his best outing as a Red Raider with a 1-under 70. Weworski, who fired a 66 in the second round, finished the tournament tied in seventh place.

Chris Ward tied in 16th place and was 7-over for the tournament, followed by Matt Smith, who was a stroke back in a 22nd-place tie. Brian Scherer tied in 38th place and Jacob Simon in 70th to round out the team scoring for the Red Raiders.

Finley Ewing IV, playing unattached, finished tied in 11th place after carding a pair of 72s with a 75 sandwiched in between. Also playing as a individual, Matt Smith tied in 22nd place.

Tied in third place behind Texas Tech (+23) and Southeastern Louisiana (+25) were Tulsa (+26) and Baylor (+26), while North Texas (+28) was fifth. Iowa State (+35), Stephen F. Austin (+37), Wichita State (+38), Sam Houston State (+39) and Texas State (+43) were sixth through tenth, followed by Louisiana-Lafayette (+44), Oklahoma (+49), Air Force (+64), UTSA (+68) and Illinois State (+80).
