Texas Tech sophomore Clement Sordet's stellar first round has propelled him to a tie for the tournament lead while the Red Raiders stand in second as a team heading into Saturday's second round at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Springs, Calif. Sordet was stellar on Friday afternoon as he fired a 4-under, 68 that places him in a tie with TCU's Julien Brun. Sordet, Tech's team leader in stroke average, will tee off at 8:50 a.m. (PT) on Saturday morning and will be looking to help Tech bridge a seven shot gap that separates TCU's lead at 11-under. Texas Tech is one of four Big 12 schools competing in this tournament joining TCU, Kansas and Iowa State. Finley Ewing IV, who will be looking for his second Top 5 finish this week, is currently tied for fifth overall with St. Mary's Ben Geyer. Ewing IV logged a 2-under, 70 in today's opening round. Sophomores Esteban Restrepo and Henry Todd both finished in the Top 40 with Restrepo tying for 17th at even par and Todd tying for 36th at 2-over.
