LUBBOCK, Texas - The 37th-ranked Red Raiders completed the first round of play at the University of Texas at San Antonio tournament earlier today, standing steady in seventh place after shooting a 593, 11 strokes behind tournament host and leader UTSA.

Sophomore Brian Smith and Senior David Bolen placed in the Top 20 after the first day of competition. Smith shot a four-over par 146 (71, 75) to tie in 12th place, while Bolen is tied for 19th shooting a five-over par 147 (73, 74).

Red Raider Kyle Willmann shot a 150 (76, 74) in the first round to tie for 35th, while teammates Mark Hull and Drew Hackler are tied in 44th with each shooting a nine-over par 151.

The Texas Tech men's golf team will wrap up competition when final round of play resumes tomorrow morning with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Oak Hills Country Club. The Red Raiders will swing back into action in two weeks when they travel to Lafayette, La., for the Louisiana Classic.
