Men's Golf Takes 16th at UTSA Invite|

SAN ANTONIO - The Texas Tech men's golf team returns to Lubbock after finishing in 16th place at the UTSA Invitational at the La Cantera Golf Club in San Antonio Tuesday. Red Raider freshman Gant Bills tied for the lowest second round in the tournament.
Bills shot a 36-hole total of 150, firing rounds of 80 and 70 respectively. He finished tied for 23rd at the event and on top of the Texas Tech squad. In the second round, Bills' two under placed him in a three-way tie for fewest strokes of the round.
Nebraska claimed the team title, ending with a tournament total of 574 on the par 72, 7001-yard layout. Husker Jamie Rogers was the individual medalist as the only golfer to end under par.
The Red Raiders moved up after the first round, lowering the team total on day two to 304. Junior Sean Mulherin took the team's second scoring spot, shooting rounds of 79 and 77 to end tied for 44th. Texas Tech men's squad will have the next week off before heading to the 1998 Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, Louisiana March 9-10.
