Men's Golf Wraps Up UTSA in Fifth Place

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team wrapped up competition earlier today at the University of Texas at San Antonio Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. The 37th-ranked Red Raiders shot a three-round total of 903 (295, 298, 310) to finish fifth among 16 other schools with Wichita State shooting a team total of 882 to take the 2002 tournament title. Two Red Raiders rounded out the Top 20 players with Senior Kyle Willmann shooting a one-over par 72, giving him a 54-hole score of 222 (76, 74) to leap from yesterday's 35th place tie into a five-way tie for 10th. Fellow teammate David Bolen moved up three spots to tie for 16th place shooting an 11-over par 224 (73, 74, 77) in the final round. Lubbock native Brian Smith was unable to hold onto his 12th place tie from yesterday afternoon shooting a total round of 229 (71, 75, 83) to finish in 26th place. Freshman Drew Hackler shot a 17-over par 230 (76, 75, 79) to tie for 31st while Junior Mark Hull finished in a tie for 49th place shooting a 20-over par 233 (75, 76, 82). The men's golf team will swing back into action in two weeks when they travel to Lafayette, La., for the Louisiana Classic.
