The No. 42 Texas Tech Men's Golf team struggled on the third and final day of the 2012 Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters as the Red Raiders shot a 31-over, 319 and completed tournament play in 13th place.
The final day of this highly competitive tournament saw high scores from just about every team with the exception of host UNLV. The Rebels shot a 5-over, 293 for the lowest round score of the day and moved ahead of No. 7 California for the team title. Cal finished the tournament in second while UCLA came in third and Texas A&M in fourth.
As a team, the Red Raiders finished tournament play at 45-over, 909.
Sophomore Logan McCracken, who led the tournament after two rounds, shot a 7-over, 79 in the final round and ended up in a tie for fifth place with Julian Suri of Duke and Bobby Wyatt of Alabama. McCracken earned his second top five finish of the season and ended the three-round tournament at 1-over, 217. UNLV's Blake Biddle rose all the way from eighth place to claim medalist honors at 4-under, 212.
Texas Tech will have to regroup quickly as the Red Raiders travel to Austin this weekend for the Morris Williams Invitational (March 16-17).
