Tech Drops Match to Illinois at Callaway Match Play|

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 18 Texas Tech men's golf team nearly pulled off its third-straight upset in the semifinals of the Callaway Match Play Championships at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground Ga., but fell to No. 4 seed Illinois, 3-2.
The match came down to Illinois' Mason Jacobs and Tech's Will Griffin. The two were all-square after 18 and it took 20 holes for Jacobs to clinch the match.
Nils Floren got the Red Raiders in the win column but was down two-strokes early in his match with Scott Langley. After seven holes, the two had played to all-square and over the next nine holes Floren went three up to take the match.
Teammate Chandler Rusk won the other match after trailing through six holes. Rusk took the match over the next five holes winning three of the five.
The Red Raiders will now face the No. 11 seed USC tomorrow in the third-place match starting tomorrow morning. Fans can follow live at www.golfstat.com.
