Texas Tech finds itself in a tie for first place with Eastern Michigan after the first round of the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va.
The Red Raiders put a wrap on the first round of the three-day tournament by posting an 8-over, 288 and are tied with Eastern Michigan atop the team standings. Tournament host William & Mary is tied with Dayton and UNC-Greensboro for third place at 13-over, 293.
Leading Texas Tech on the day were juniors Matias Dominguez and Clement Sordet who currently stand tied for seventh place on the individual leaderboard at 1-over, 71. Dominguez, who put up a double bogey on the third hole, recovered on the back nine where he fired two birdies to finish out the day at 1-over par.
A bogey on the 18th hole prevented Sordet from a tie for fifth place heading into Monday's second round.
Texas Tech will look to break the tie and separate itself from Eastern Michigan in Monday's second round. Live scoring can be tracked at golfstat.com.
