No. 50 Texas Tech separated itself from Eastern Michigan in today's second round of the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate and now stands in sole possession of first place with an eight-stroke lead on the Eagles.
Texas Tech is on track for its first tournament win since 2012 when the Red Raiders brought home the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational.
The Red Raiders are currently 6-over, 566 as a team while Eastern Michigan stands at 14-over, 574. James Madison sits in third place overall at 17-over, 577.
For the second consecutive day, Tech got strong play from juniors Clement Sordet and Matias Dominguez. Sordet rose five spots on the player leaderboard and is now tied for second place with Carter Jenkins of UNC-Greensboro. Sordet is 2-under, 138 through two rounds after firing a 3-under, 70 in today's second round.
Dominguez moved up three spots on the leaderboard and is in sole possession of fourth place. He fired a 2-under, 68 in today's second round to improve to 1-under, 139 overall.
Junior Esteban Restrepo moved into the top 15 today with a 1-over, 71 to make him 4-over for the tournament.
