April 6, 2014
LUBBOCK, Texas - For the second-straight tournament, the Red Raiders brought home hardware following a third-place finish at the Aggie Invitational in College Station, Texas on Sunday.
Texas Tech entered the final round of play six strokes out of the lead and proceeded to take over the top spot at the turn on the course thanks to the play of Clement Sordet who was one-under on the front nine holes.
The junior would finish the tournament with his second-straight top-five honor clinching third place individually with a 1-over 217 for the 54-hole event. California's Brandon Hagy held on to claim top medalist with a 4-under 212.
Despite adverse weather conditions, including a 30-minute rain delay, only five strokes separated the top three teams throughout the final nine holes of play as LSU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech all took turns leading the field.
However, in the end, it would be the Tigers and the Aggies in a tie for first place at 35-over while the Red Raiders finished four strokes out in third. Texas Tech edged out No. 2 Oklahoma State and No. 3 California en route to its third place team finish.
Texas Tech will now prepare for the 2014 Big 12 Championships to be held April 25-27 in Trinity, Texas.
