LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Texas Tech mens golf team captured 8th place at the Copy System Toshiba Copiers Mens Intercollegiate golf tournament held at the Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Red Raiders posted the best team finish of the spring and second best on the year, carding a score of 934 at the Univ. of Arkansas-Little Rock event.
Tech fired rounds of 313, 312 and 309 on the par 72, 7,149-yard course to end 70 strokes over in the 17-team field. Texas-Arlington claimed the team title at 14 over, listing four individuals among the top six. Magnus Dohlvik of Texas-San Antonio earned individual medalist honors, ending as the only player under par at -1.
Philip Tate saw his best finish of the year and second best in his career, shooting 76, 79, 74 to end tied for 13th at 13 over. Freshman Matt Loving carded 236 on the tournament to tie for 35th, while senior Tom Baldwin (237) tied at 40th after a two-over final round. Rounding out the other scoring spots for the Red Raiders were Mark Garcia (239) tied for 52nd, and Sean Mulherin (244) in 80th.
Texas Tech has concluded the regular season and will be back in action for the Big 12 Conference Tournament, April 27-28 in Hutchinson, Kansas.
