LUBBOCK, Texas - Brooks Kelly (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) posted a three-round 212 to finish in a tie for fourth place and lead Texas Tech to a second-place finish at the Bearkat Classic in Montgomery, Texas, Tuesday afternoon.

Kelly shattered his previous career-best total of 222 and posted his first top 10 finish of his career. The freshman shot a 70 in the first round and followed with a 69 in round two. He closes out the tournament with a 73. Mark Hull (San Antonio, Texas) finished in a tie for seventh with a three-round 214. UAB's Chris Devlin turned in three sub-70 rounds to win medalist honors.

Texas Tech led the tournament after the first two rounds, but was passed in the final round by tournament winner Texas-San Antonio. Behind UTSA and Tech were Louisiana-Lafayette, UAB, Baylor, Arkansas-Little Rock, Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas, Southwest Texas, Stephen F. Austin, Cincinnati, Rice, Lamar, McNeese State, Sam Houston State and Southern Miss.

Tech's David Bolen (Austin, Texas) finished tied for 16th and Trey Pyka (San Antonio, Texas) closed out in a 39th place tie. Corey Henegar (Austin, Texas) finished tied in 69th place.

The tournament is the final of the season for the Red Raiders prior to the Big 12 Conference Championships Mon.-Tue., April 24-25, in Hutchinson, Kan.
