Sordet Picks Up Ninth Place Finish At Aggie Invitational
April 22, 2012
Freshman Clement Sordet picked up his fifth Top 10 finish of the season but it wasn't enough to lift No. 46 Texas Tech up from ninth at place at the Aggie Invitational at The Traditions Club in College Station.
The Red Raiders got off to a slow start and never recovered as Tech finished the three-round tournament at 93-over, 1173. Scoring for this tournament included five out of six scores which is slightly different than the traditional five-team format that counts four scores.
Texas Tech and Utah were forced to complete the second round of the tournament first thing this morning after play was halted due to darkness early Saturday evening. By that time, both teams were out of contention as Tech finished ninth and Utah 10th. No. 13 Oregon won the team title at 29-over, 1109 followed by a tie for second place between No. 1 Texas and No. 15 Texas A&M (40-over, 1120).
Freshman Clement Sordet was the bright spot for Texas Tech on the weekend as he finished ninth at 6-over, 222. Sordet fired rounds of 74, 72 and 76 to secure his fifth Top 10 finish of the season. Finley Ewing IV and Matias Dominguez tied for 40th at 17-over, 233.
Texas Tech will regroup quickly as the Big 12 Championships begin on Friday at Whispering Pines in Trinity, Texas.
