Play Halted In Round Two Of Big 12 Men's Golf Championships|
April 22, 2013
A day of erratic weather and scorecards highlighted the first two rounds of the 2013 Big 12 Men's Golf Championships that was suspended twice, including the halting of play late in the second round.
With the stoppage in play due to weather and darkness, six teams will be forced to complete the second round beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Round three of the tournament is set to get underway at 1 p.m.
Just two hours into the first round, the Red Raiders found themselves headed back to the clubhouse after a severe storm passed through the area. Heavy rains, lightning and hail forced the stoppage of play for an hour.
The weather conditions only compounded Tech's problems in the first round as the Red Raiders struggled to a 23-over, 303 and were in eighth place heading into round two.
The second round proved to be more favorable for the Red Raiders as Tech and Iowa State have tied for the second best round thus far. The Red Raiders are 8-over with four holes to go in the second round and have moved up one spot into seventh place.
At 31-over par, Tech is just four strokes back of fourth place Baylor.
Wintry weather is expected to move into the area overnight so there is a potential for further delay on Tuesday morning. For the latest updates on the Big 12 Championships, log on to TexasTech.com.
