OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. -- Junior Matias Dominguez carded an even-par 70 on Saturday as No. 32 Texas Tech fell to eighth place at the Olympia Fields Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Red Raiders followed up their first round 292 with a 13-over 293 on Saturday for a 25-over 585 total but are only six shots back of second place No. 3 Texas (579). No. 2 Alabama sits well ahead in the lead at 3-under (558).
Tech is five shots ahead of No. 10 Florida State and six shots ahead of No. 20 and host Illinois.
Dominguez led all Red Raiders with his 70, scoring five birdies in his second round and was one of only five players in the field to score even for the day on all par 4 holes.
The Red Raiders will finish the tournament on Sunday beginning with Ronneblad at 7:30 a.m. CT. Tech will play alongside Florida State and Augusta State.
