Texas Tech Finishes Eighth in Illinois|
Matias Dominguez tied for ninth place individually.

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Junior Matias Dominguez fired a 3-over par 73 in the final round to finish in a tie for ninth individually at 9-over par, and help lead No. 32 Texas Tech to an eighth place finish at the Olympia Fields Fighting Illini Invitational on Sunday at Olympia Fields Country Club.
It was the third top 10 finish for Dominguez (73-70-73--216). He finished fifth at the NCAA Columbus Regional in May and 10th at the 2012 Big 12 Championship.
The Red Raiders (292-293-294--879) placed higher than No. 10 Florida State (881), No. 22 SMU (887) and No. 14 Florida (905). No. 2 and defending national champion Alabama won the tournament with an 849 three-day total.
Junior Henry Todd shot his best round of the weekend with a 2-over 72, followed by Dominguez (73), junior Clement Sordet (74) and freshman Hannes Ronneblad (75). Ronneblad finished his first collegiate tournament in a tie for 45th (73-76-75--224).
Tech will have the next month to practice before heading out to Windemere, Fla., Oct. 20-22 to end the fall season at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational.
