Red Raider Golf In Fourth Heading Into Final Round

The Red Raider men's golf team has set itself up in a position to make a run at the trophy with 18 holes left to play in the Wolf Run Intercollegiate Tournament in Zionsville, Ind.

However, Texas Tech will have some work to do if it wants to finish atop the leader boards in this one, as it finds itself eight shots back of Ohio State who are off to a hot start with a total score of 566.

Tech sits just outside the top three after the first two rounds with a team score of 574 putting them behind the Buckeyes, Illinois and tournament host Indiana.

Leading the Red Raiders at Wolf Creek in the first day of play was senior Finley Ewing IV shooting a team best score of 138 with a 71 and 67 in his first two rounds. This performance also put him near the top of the leaderboard, as he is tied for third and just three shots off of top spot.

Coming into the clubhouse with the second best score on the day, and tied for ninth overall was sophomore Henry Todd, as he played extremely well as the fifth golfer for Tech with his two scores averaging out to put him at even for the day with a 144 total.

Rounding out the scores taken to give Tech its score for the first day were a 146 shot total by freshman Esteban Restrepo, and a total score of 148 by sophomore Nathan Weant. Finishing just behind these two for Tech was sophomore Clement Sordet with a 149 total score after 36 holes completed.

Tech did have one player participate in the tournament as an individual, as sophomore Matias Dominguez fished tied for 40th with fellow Red Raider Sordet with a 149 total.

Tech will look to mount its comeback beginning at 9:15 a.m., as Sordet will start things off for the Red Raiders in the sixth flight of golfers in the final round. Ewing IV will tee off last for Tech on the team side of things, as he will round out the fifth straight flight of groups with Tech golfers in them in the 10th flight.

Dominguez will look to move up the leader board individually by beginning his last round of play at 9:02 a.m. in the 19th flight.
