Red Raiders in 10th After First Round

WINDERMERE, Fla. The first round of the 2012 Isleworth Collegiate Invitational concluded on Sunday in Windermere, Fla., and the Texas Tech golf team came into the clubhouse tied for 10th with a total score of 300.

Sophomore Esteban Restrepo lead the Red Raiders in the first day of action, as he found himself in the top 10 after shooting an even round of 72, which put him in a tie for seventh place.

The second best score for Tech in the round was posted by senior leader Finley Ewing IV, as he shot a 74 to put himself in a tie for 22nd.

Both coming in at a tie for 50th, sophomores Matias Dominguez Clement Sordet rounded out Tech's scorecard with a 77 from each.

After an impressive performance at Wolf Creek in Tech's last outing, Henry Todd had a tough first round finishing in a tie for 58th by shooting a 78.

The Red Raiders are tied with Arkansas and North Florida, and find themselves 16 shots off the lead after California had an impressive day by shooting a 284 total, four under par. Texas and Illinois round out the top three after shooting a 288 and 291, respectively. TCU, the other Big 12 Conference member in the field, finished three strokes ahead of the Red Raiders to put them in a tie for eighth with Florida.

Todd will start the second round off for Tech, as he will begin from the 10th hole at 8:35 a.m., with his fellow Red Raiders teeing off every 10 minutes. To follow along with the action go to for live scoring throughout the tournament.
