Men's Golf Improves in Final Round

MCKINNEY, Texas -- The Texas Tech University men's golf team finished 14th in the SMU Stonebridge "Big E" Shootout with a 938 total.
After firing rounds of 317 and 311 on Monday, Texas Tech finished with a final-round 310 on Tuesday over the par 72, 7,247-yard Stonebridge Country Club.
Southern Methodist (880) won the team total by three shots over Arkansas and Baylor. Kansas (890) finished fourth. Baylor senior Jeff Hughes won the individual title with an even-par 216.
For Texas Tech, Matt Loving tied for 25th, thanks to a 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday. He finished at 10-over 226. Philip Tate tied for 55th (233), Blake Smith tied for 64th (238), Matt Pitts finished 71st (241) and Eddie Lucio finished 73rd (248).
