LUBBOCK, Texas - Due to inclement weather in the Dallas area, the final round of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate was cancelled making the 54-hole tournament a 36-hole event as the Texas Tech men's golf team finished in sixth place with a 1-under-par team total.

For the second-straight tournament, the Red Raiders fell just short of medal contention as Tech trailed third-place Arkansas by only three strokes in the final standings.

Senior Matt Smith captured the team's first top-5 finish of the 2010 season as he finished tied for fourth place individually, just four strokes off the lead, with SMU's Kelly Kraft and Case Cochran of Texas A&M at a 6-under-par, two-round total of 136.

Fellow senior Nils Floren earned his third top-15 honor of the fall season as he tied for 11th place overall with a 3-under 139.

No. 17 Iowa claimed the team tournament title, shooting 17-under 551 to finish five strokes ahead of second-place Texas A&M (12-under 556). Arkansas finished third at 4-under 564.

Iowa's Vince India earned individual medalist honors, finishing the tournament at 10-under par. Texas A&M's Conrad Schindler finished second at 8-under 134, followed by teammate Jordan Russell in third at 7-under 135.

Texas Tech will return to action this spring as they open up with the Hawaii-Hilo Intercollegiate Feb. 2-4 in Kohala Coast, Hawaii.
