LUBBOCK, Texas - After mother nature canceled much of Friday's opening round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic, the Texas Tech men's golfers fired a 19-over 595 over the first two rounds Saturday to land in 12th position heading into Sunday's final round in Rocky Face, Geo.

Competing with 12 teams ranked in the preseason Top 25, the Red Raiders found themselves just six strokes out of fifth place after the first 36 holes concluded Saturday. With a couple of their top performers having uncharacteristic struggles early on Saturday, Tech will look to make a push into the top part of the team leaderboard.

Individually, Will Griffin shot an even-par 144 to lead the Red Raiders and land him in seventh place. He is just three strokes out of third place going into the final 18 holes Sunday. Santiago Rivas finished Saturday just four strokes behind Griffin at 148. Garrett Merrell shot a 150, while Matt Smith and Sergio Franky shot 155 and 156, respectively, to round out the Tech scoring.

Sunday's final round is set to kick off late in the morning, with the first Red Raider golfers teeing off just after 11:45. Live stats can be found on www.golfstat.com.
