LUBBOCK, Texas - - The Texas Tech men's golf team comes out swinging with a stellar performance and lands in third place after the first day of the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.

The Red Raiders hold a team total of 572, only nine strokes out of the lead currently held by UT-Arlington at 563. Kyle Willmann finishes the day four strokes off the lead with rounds of 69 and 70, tying for third place. Mark Hull is currently in a fifth-place tie with two other golfers after rounds of 71 and 69. David Bolen finished the day in 14th place with rounds of 69 and 75. Brad Jacobson closes out the day with rounds of 76 and 73, landing in 35th place. Trey Pyka shot rounds of 77 and 77 to finish the day in 49th place. Brooks Kelly finished in 65th place with rounds of 76 and 82.

The UTA Mavericks lead the pack, claiming both first and second place after the first day. Shad Muth is in first place after firing rounds of 63 and 72. Fellow Maverick Luke Main lands three strokes off the lead with rounds of 70 and 68.

The Raiders will continue play tomorrow in the UTSA Invitational, at Oak Hills Country Club, in San Antonio, Texas.
