Texas Tech Men's Golf at Dr Pepper at Tanglewood Tournament
March 26, 1999 LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team will open play in the sixth-annual Dr Pepper at Tanglewood tournament in Pottsboro, Texas, on Saturday, March 27. The 54 hole tournament will feature 19 teams including sixth-ranked Minnesota and 11th ranked Northwestern. Saturday's play will feature 36 holes of golf with a final 18-hole round on Sunday. The Red Raiders will look to rebound after finishing a disappointing 18th last weekend at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas. Matt Loving (Corpus Christi) will look to lead the team again this weekend after shooting a team-best 231 for three rounds.
"I'd be wrong to say I wasn't disappointed in how we played last
week at Laredo," Director of Golf Jeff Mitchell said. "This tournament
offers us a chance for redemption. It is real important that our team
steps up and fights hard. It will be a big challenge with some great
nationally-ranked teams in the field. I'm real anxious to see if we can
compete."
