Men's Golf Closes Regular Season At Aggie Invitational|
April 3, 2014
The Texas Tech Men's Golf team will complete the regular-season portion of its schedule this weekend at the Aggie Invitational in Bryan.
The Red Raiders travel to College Station looking to ride the momentum gained in taking home the team title at last week's Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate. Texas Tech collected its first tournament title since 2012 while Clement Sordet claimed Tech's first individual title since Finley Ewing IV won the Morris Williams tournament at the end of last season.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament gets underway on Saturday morning at the Traditions Club in Bryan. The Traditions Club, which opened in 2004, will hold par at 72 and covers 7,146 yards. The course features Bermuda fairways/rough grass and TifDwarf Bermuda greens and was designed by Jack Nicklaus/Jack Nicklaus II.
Two rounds will be played on Saturday morning with the third and final round set for Sunday.
The 12-team tournament field includes host No. 10 Texas A&M, No. 42 Texas Tech, Arkansas, No. 4 California, No. 31 Kent State, No. 26 LSU, Michigan, New Mexico State, North Texas, No. 2 Oklahoma State, Pacific and No. 38 San Diego State.
Junior Esteban Restrepo, who leads the team with a 72.9 stroke average, will lead Texas Tech this weekend. Junior Matias Dominguez ranks second on the squad with a 73.0 stroke average.
