April 5, 2013
The Texas Tech Men's Golf team returns to the links this weekend as the Red Raiders open play in the 2013 Aggie Invitational at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas.
With the start of the Aggie Invitational, the Red Raiders near closer to the end of their regular-season schedule as only one other tournament remains before Tech heads Prairie Dunes, Kan., for the Big 12 Championships at the end of April. The Aggie Invitational tees off on Saturday morning where 36 holes will be played on day one followed by 18 holes in the final round on Sunday.
Texas Tech will be looking for a strong finish in this tournament with the hopes of firmly locking up an invitation to the NCAA Regionals. The Red Raiders have made 11 consecutive trips to the NCAA postseason, which is the longest active streak on campus.
The Aggie Invitational will be played on Texas A&M's university owned Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas. The course will play to a par 72 and 7,146 yards. The tournament field will include Texas Tech, Alabama, Arkansas, Duke, Kent State, LSU, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Washington and host Texas A&M. Texas Tech won the Aggie Invitational in 2006 behind the strong play of Oscar Floren who also earned medalist honors.
