LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech travels to Montgomery, Texas, this weekend for the Bearkat Classic Monday and Tuesday. Sam Houston State hosts the event at the Bentwater Country Club, which features two courses - the Miller Course (6,809-yard, par 72) and the Weiskopf Course (6,992-yard, par 72).

"This is a critical tournament for us," Texas Tech Director of Golf Jeff Mitchell said. "We have struggled, especially in the final rounds of the past couple of tournaments. For us to come out and give a great effort is very important.

"Mark Hull and David Bolen continue to lead the way with some strong finishes, but we need more consistency throughout the lineup," Mitchell added.

Hull (San Antonio, Texas) and Bolen (Austin, Texas) lead the team with 74.5 and 75.0 stroke averages, respectively. Both have four top 20 finishes in nine tournaments this season. Corey Henegar (Austin, Texas) is averaging 76.3 strokes per round for the Red Raiders.

The Bearkat Classic is the final tune-up for Texas Tech prior to the Big 12 Conference Championships April 24-25 in Hutchinson, Kan.
