LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Texas Tech men's golf team sits in ninth place after two rounds in the first day of competition at the Copy System - Toshiba Copiers Men's Intercollegiate in Little Rock, Ark. The Red Raiders ended the day 49 over with a team total of 625 at the par 72, 7,149 yard Chenal Country Club.

Freshman Matt Loving leads the Texas Tech hunt, firing rounds of 77 and 78 to end the day tied at 26th. Philip Tate also concluded the day in 26th place with rounds of 76 and 79. Both finished 11 over and 14 strokes off of the leader, Magnus Dohlvik from UT-San Antonio.

Mark Garcia ended just three strokes behind his teammates to sit tied for 39th, while Tom Baldwin came in tied for 70th and Sean Mulherin concluded the day tied for 73rd.

Texas-Arlington leads the team effort, as the squad claimed spots two through five to end even par. Southern Methodist is 21 strokes off of the lead with a two-round total of 597.

The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday, with tee times set for 8 a.m.
