LUBBOCK, Texas - - The Big 12 Conference announced its 2001 Men's Golf Academic All-Big 12 team on Tuesday. The Red Raiders made their mark on the list with three players named to the first team and two to the second team.

Sophomores Mark Hull, Brooks Kelly and Trey Pyka were named to the first team while seniors David Bolen and Corey Henegar were named to the second team. Kelly is no stranger to academic success. He was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll in 2000 with a 4.0 grade point average. Junior David Bolen was also named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2000 spring semester.

To qualify student athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

The Red Raiders will tee it up April 23-24 at the Prairie Dunes Golf & Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan., which has hosted the men's championship the previous four years. Oklahoma State is defending the Big 12 and NCAA champion and the Cowboys have won three of the four league titles. Kansas won the 1999 league crown.
